Digging Through the Layers

Well, it's not photography - but the manipulation of what the mind comprehends via the simple adjustment of the visible light spectrum seems to translate.

~ Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla created a very special series of wallpaper named RGB for Janelli & Volpi, a famous Italian wallpaper brand. The collection consists of different colored patterns that result in unexpected images, revealed through 3 different filters: red, green and blue. ~

Itty Bitty Critters, Great Big Eyes

One of various types of jumping spiders residing at the ranch. I rigged a shooting jar out of an old parmesan cheese container half stuffed with green tissue. The jar is just larger than my macro-tube/lens setup and I've attached the two with the top of a sock. Camera w/lens is attached to tripod and the jar is moved to facilitate focus and framing. All shot with Canon EOS Xs with 55mm Minolta lens on extension tubes; f4.0 at various shutter speeds with remote shutter release.

Bloomin Away

I was able to exchange my moldy lens for a clean one, and took it out this weekend to capture a few more Spring shots before all the pretty petals are literally blown away.  This was the 200mm telephoto with manual focus and aperture.  This time however I tried letting the camera decide on the shutter speed by using the "aperture priority" mode.  Most shots came out swell, but a few of the full sun shots on white subjects (swans, white flowers, etc.) were funky, like the camera chose a weird white balance setting or over exposed.  In the future I'll probably stick to the all manual mode unless the subject is in motion.  You can click on the below image to see the set, that is if you not sick of spring blooms yet 8-)

Spring Eternal

Really perfect day out there today and a couple of decent shots to show for it.  Still dialing in the telephoto and having fun hunting for those undeniable signs of seasonal change.  Click the photo to see the set.

Birthday Moon Howl

Gwen's birthday had me up late celebrating and communing with the moon on Sunday.  The telephoto was great.  Click on the below image to peek at the rest.

Spring Forward

I've been bidding on Ebay for used manual telephoto lenses and won one this week.  The Canon 200mm internal focus lens with an f/2.8 aperture (circa 1980's), arrived in bubble wrap.  No fancy box or case, and feels pretty heavy, but after a day of wondering the back yard it seems like a real clear gem.  Its been pretty warm here the last week and things are loaded and ready to Spring!  Click on the tulip below to see rest.
