This week I lost a member of my family,
someone who was part of my daily world for nearly half of my life. tinmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05665913646531385753noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4670508599939374779.post-82840680509624896352013-06-12T23:19:00.000-05:002013-06-12T23:19:08.166-05:00No Apologies
I'm no great photo editor but I do like to play. When I take the camera out for a spin I shoot a ton of shots trying to find a good balance of light and shadow, color and composition. Generally I don't think "What a great Shot!". I figure with a little digital magic from one of several photo-editing software suites I might come up with something interesting and possibly nice to look at.

MO and I are digitizing a bunch of old negatives and hope to compile them in some meaningful way. We've come across some with unknown faces. Ok, I guess I'll just post some raw photos taken with old glass mounted on digital slr in before and after modes. I was working in the garden and saw these birds congregating in the trees. I dropped the rake and ran to the house for a camera. I think a 55mm mamiya lens was mounted so that's what I used. Most of the birds were gone by the time I made these but with a little processing I tinmanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05665913646531385753noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4670508599939374779.post-50959828897197675072013-01-20T00:44:00.000-06:002013-01-20T00:44:35.343-06:00Composition
Sheesh, you'd think with the billions of dollars spent on all the high-tech cameras NASA could get a little better composition. The horizon is all crooked, there are distracting shadows in the foreground, no hint of what the subject is and no human element...what's up with that?!

After repairing a camcorder last week I did some test shooting to make sure it was functioning correctly. The camcorder has pretty good macro capability so I did some comparison shots of a few of the subjects I was shooting with a 10mp DSLR.
Not too bad in a pinch.
The 2nd & 4th photos are frame captures from the camcorder.
